We have all experienced failures – they are simply part of life. Yet we’d rather not talk about, let alone appreciate them. But when we fully embrace the fact that failures are a vehicle to growth and transformation, we understand that they aren’t something we should be scared of or hold us back. Ultimately, all of our failures will lead us to what we’re meant to achieve in our lifetime. In this episode, Tanja and Kat talk about their own experiences and failures, how they learned how to overcome setbacks and always stand up again during their years working with start-ups. This episode is not to be missed! Key takeaways: - Making mistakes is fine as long as you don’t repeat them. Learn from it and turn mistakes into successes the next time around - Success is never a straight line – in fact it’s a wild ride! You have ups and downs all the time and should embrace this as a complete normality - Failures are essentially the Universe redirecting you to what you’re actually supposed to do - You should allow yourself to be sad if you’ve just failed at something. But you must see it as a temporary state of mind and emotion and don’t identify yourself with it (you, yourself, are not a failure!) Most people like to think in labels to better relate to each other and justify their own actions and behavioural patterns through being ‘this’ or ‘that’. However, striving to achieve one label after the other without any deeper meaning can easily distract from your true purpose and WHY. In this episode we talk about how you can free yourself from mentally labelling yourself as the role you play at work, at home, or somewhere else and start focusing on what is really important in life and what makes you YOU (hint – you’re not a label). Key takeaways: - Going after labels just because that is ‘what you do’ will not make you happy in the long run. Rather, you should focus on exploring what makes you YOU - Don’t get confused by your ego constantly asking for validation in the form of labels. Recognise it for what it is, then start shifting your response to it - Focus on what type of EXPERIENCES you want to create, rather than what title you want to achieve next If you enjoyed this episode, please do leave us a review on Apple Podcasts: http://bit.ly/insync_apple WANT TO CHAT? Is ego the source of the self? Or is it a separate, (sometimes) evil persona? It is no secret that different ambitions unfold when operating from your true self instead of the ego, which paces the way to different kinds of success and achievements in business and life. This episode is all about dealing with your own as well as other people’s egos at work. We discuss how ego can be used in a positive way but also the importance of keeping it in check, so it does not evolve into a toxic inner voice that stands between the individual and a greater purpose. Key takeaways: - As people start to awaken, the world is moving toward a different approach to business where open discussions about topics like ego are welcome - Less ego, or at least well managed ego, can revolutionise outdated business practices to create healthier, more productive and aligned work environments If you enjoyed this episode, please do leave us a review on Apple Podcasts: http://bit.ly/insync_apple WANT TO CHAT? Starting on how ego can be identified and recognised, this episode revolves around the centric question of how developing awareness of the ego shapes and challenges the way we go about our lives. From no to hyper-awareness of ego, it can be depicted as both fuelling force and limiting factor, for the individual and especially in the context of business and leadership. This episode touches on real life experiences of how ego manifests in the workplace and influences perspectives when (un)acknowledged. Key takeaways: - Depending on your level of awareness, ego can be both enemy and opportunity - “Having a big ego” is often pictured as a necessity (in some industries), but in actuality not needed to achieve great results - Speaking and acting from your true self, your essence, rather than ego, will be part of the future of work If you enjoyed this episode, please do leave us a review on Apple Podcasts: http://bit.ly/insync_apple WANT TO CHAT? When you don’t succeed at something, do you tell yourself “not yet” or ”it’s just not for me”? If you are listening to this podcast, you will most likely fall into the first category and understand the concept of the growth mindset. But do you also act accordingly? Although the concept of growth mindsets has – thanks to Carol S. Dweck - seen great momentum and understanding especially within the millennial generation, many still struggle to put the concept into practice. In this episode we discuss ways to change old habits that no longer serve you. The top 3 strategies you’ll hear about (amongst others): #1: Focus on continuous personal improvement #2: Find an accountability network #3: Improve your self-awareness For everyone who has not read the book (yet), we highly recommend to order a copy of Mindset: New Psychology of Success by Carol S. Dweck. She defines people with a growth mindset as students that believe that their abilities and intelligence can be developed with effort, learning, and enough persistence. People with a fixed mindset, on the other hand, believe that learning abilities, intelligence, and talents are fixed traits. So often we think that we have to tick all the boxes on the career’s checklist, gain experiences, develop specific skills and spend a particular period of time experiencing unpleasant states or difficult situations before we are ready to pursue our actual dreams. Being successful in life and business is tough, they say. But here’s a little secret: it doesn’t have to be that way. The key lies in overcoming socially constructed beliefs and redefining what a “good career” and “success” looks like and start aligning our inner and outer worlds the minute we enter the workforce. As we free ourselves from made-up social constructs, we realise that we already have what it takes to become truly successful. Things we talk about in this episode: - Why you do NOT need to tick a checklist first before you can step into your full power - Why you are ready TODAY and not in 10 years - Strategies you can use to overcome seeking validation on your life’s choices If you enjoyed this episode, please do leave us a review on Apple Podcasts: http://bit.ly/insync_apple WANT TO CHAT? “Create your own reality and just do what you want!” … sounds so simple, right? But how do you actually do it? Although the transition from freeing yourself from those who seek to force you to conform to their ideals (hello, society) to empowering yourself to live according to your own rules can be really tough sometimes, it is also one of the rewarding journeys you can embark on during your life time. In this episode, we discuss how strategically planning your reality (=Kat) vs. reaching it in a flow state  (=Tanja) compare against each other. You’ll learn about: Different approaches depending on your personality type to reach the same goals Ways to deal with transition periods, i.e. when you are trying to get from A to B Why you should always trust that the universe will give you what you need (and not necessarily what you want) If you enjoyed this episode, please do leave us a review on Apple Podcasts: http://bit.ly/insync_apple WANT TO CHAT? “Limiting beliefs” are all the false stories we tell ourselves from a young age if we are not careful in recognising them as such. These stories are mainly based on other people’s opinions, who society thinks we should be, as well as our own negative thoughts and they do not serve any purpose other than holding us back from becoming our best selves. They are just “stories”.   The wise Maya Angelou once said, “When you know better, you do better” and the same is true for breaking free from your limiting beliefs. In this episode, we discuss how recognising and managing your old belief systems can accelerate your career and why all leaders should put more emphasis on helping their people overcoming their limiting beliefs so they can achieve more and feel better at work.
